Rider

Weight with riding gear

Enter your riding weight as precisely as you can, with all your gear: helmet, protection, backpack, hydration. It is the main input of the calculation.

kg

Riding level

The levels are based on rider setups going from beginner to World Cup downhill racer.

A higher level asks the fork to absorb more energy over its travel: firmer, more support and more bottom-out resistance for hard riding. A lower level keeps it softer and more comfortable.

Soft, Medium Soft, Medium, Medium Firm, Firm, World Cup.

Medium 3.0
Riding position

Riding position

Where your weight sits when you ride. Riding over the front puts more of your weight on the fork, riding off the back less.

Not sure? Keep it centered.

Bike

Bike weight

The complete bike as you ride it, with pedals and bottle cage. About half of it rests on the front wheel.

kg

Head angle

The angle between the fork and the ground. A slacker fork receives your weight more at an angle, which changes how much it compresses.

If you don't know it, look up your bike's geometry. Otherwise, typical values:

  • Cross country: 65 to 68°
  • Enduro: 63 to 65°
  • Downhill: 62.5 to 64°

Fork model

Every fork in the list has been measured in our lab: air chamber volumes and piston sizes. Variants such as an air tune or a reduced negative volume change those volumes, so pick the one that matches your fork.

We work hard to cover as many forks as possible, but some are not on the list yet. Contact us and we will see if we can add yours.

Travel

How far the fork can compress, from fully extended to fully compressed, in millimetres. It is set by the air shaft inside the fork and is usually written on the fork or in its specs.

The range follows what this model supports.

Lower leg oil

The lubrication oil in each lower leg also takes up air volume, and that air is compressed too. The default values come from our measurements of this fork. Change them only if you know your fork has a different amount.

SAG target

SAG target

How much the fork compresses under your weight in a neutral riding position, as a percentage of its travel.

The recommended value comes from our test riders. The calculated SAG will rarely be exactly the target: volume spacers change the volume in big steps, so the result is as close as possible to it.
